UrbanGrowth NSW and Mirvac sign anchor tenant as new Green Square Town Centre takes shape

Woolworths is the first retail tenant to commit to Green Square’s vibrant new village hub, which will become a focal point, meeting place and shopping destination for the existing community as well as over 7,000 incoming residents by 2020.
The store will take prime position as the gateway retail operator for the precinct, located in the main tenancy space on the ground floor of the Ebsworth apartment building, at the northern end of the 14 hectare Green Square Town Centre.
UrbanGrowth NSW and Mirvac are in discussions with a number of high quality, specialist, and artisan style retailers who have shown interest in the two tenancies available on either side of the Woolworths store. The retailers will contribute to the vision of the development partners to create a bustling, activated high street for Green Square residents and the wider Sydney community.
UrbanGrowth NSW’s Head of CBD Projects Steve Driscoll said the Woolworths signing was a significant milestone in the delivery of a new high street and popular destination for Sydney.
“Ebsworth High Street is the first critical piece of infrastructure for the new Town Centre. From mid next year existing and new Green Square residents alike will start to benefit from the convenience of having a wide range of amenity right on their doorstep, all within easy walking distance of their homes,” he said.
“The high quality of the retail offering combined with the nearby Green Square Train Station will attract shoppers from other postcodes, contributing to a diverse social scene and village style atmosphere into the evenings and on weekends.”
Mirvac Head of Residential, John Carfi, said welcoming Woolworths and achieving the right retail mix was an essential step in creating a healthy, connected new community.

Green Square represents a blank canvas opportunity to something quite different that both services the community but also reflects the unique identity of the Town Centre.
“We’re currently talking to a range of bespoke specialist retailers, as well as a cinema operator and other potential tenants to ensure the right mix to cover everyday needs but also
attract visitors from across Sydney. With Woolworths on board we expect a host of other exciting retail brands to quickly follow suit,” he added.
The new 2,000 square metre Woolworth’s store will include the full product range, with a focus on the ‘fresh’ department offering fruit and vegetables, a wide selection of cheeses, salads and bakery items, as well as a Woolworths speciality café, sushi bar, deli, bakery and BWS.
